Really, this should probably be under the movie section, since this is a movie. However, it's been tagged as a modern day musical, really only because it's about two musicians who meet and collaborate on music for a week. It's a beautiful story with beautiful music (my opinion, of course). The special features makes it even better, because you see what the directed intended, and how he pulled it off. And, the two leads are actual musicians, not actors.
Disclaimer: It is rated R for language. The 'F' bomb is dropped many times. Other than that, it's a clean movie.

This is one of my favorites. I think most of us can relate at least in some way to the main characters.

Absolutely! I think the main characters and the way it was shot made it more relatable. It didn't seem like acting. It was very raw and real. I loved it. It will be the next movie I buy. And I love the music. The soundtrack is first on my list, then I want to get music by The Frames, and the one Glen Hansard of The Frames did with Marketa Irglova (for those who don't know, she's the main girl in the movie).

I have the Once soundtrack, I could upload it to my web server and you could "borrow" it if you'd like.

Thank you, but I'm going out tonight to get it. I am willing to spend the money on this one.

*looks over his shoulder, wary of the stench of the RI@@....* I, for one, am an advocate for the sharing of music. You want me to buy a cd? How about pricing it reasonably and putting more than one or two good songs on it.

You guys are funny. I don't know about all of that stuff. I don't really pay attention because I don't have a computer at home, so why bother learning something I can't use- at least right now, you know? I hardly buy cd's because they are so expensive (Target is good for this, but their selection great). But, I think this one is worth it.

Okay, so I just bought the soundtrack tonight after work. $10 at Target! I would have paid more, but I won't complain about $10. I'm loving it already.

I'm going to have to figure out a way to get you a computer at home so you can post all the time.

The music business actually does more harm to musicians than good.
Yep. Do you know why bands keep such aggressive tour dates? Because that's how they make their money. Nope, not ticket sales. Most of their money comes from the merchandise sales at their concerts. Most of the money from CDs and concert tickets goes to line some music executive's pockets with gold.

The computer part isn't the biggest problem. I just don't want another bill to pay for every month for internet. My dad tells me all the time that I need to get internet. But, to me, in the whole scheme of things, it's not a top priority. I'd rather use that money to go out with friends or something. That will probably change someday soon, but that's the way it is right now. I like being able to pay my bills and have a bit leftover, you know? So, I've been listening to the soundtrack since Friday. I really like it. And it doesn't sound like the stuff I hear on the radio or in the store. I think that makes me like it more.
