Don't bother with Prince Caspian. Enough said.

Okay.  I shall open my report with a quote from the movie: "Everything you know is about to change."

NO KIDDING!  They hardly stayed with the book at all!  They completely mutilated Lewis's story.  It was... painful.  It didn't even make sense.  Here are some things I had issues with (possible spoiler warning):

--Romance between Susan and Caspian
--Constant pissing contest between Caspian and Peter
--Aslan doesn't even show up but for the last ten minutes of the movie
--LONG, pointless fight scene that does nothing for the plot but gets a lot of people killed
--Lots of important scenes simply left out
--You lose a lot of what Lewis was trying to teach about faith by mutilating the story
--The fight scene between Miraz and Peter doesn't make sense.  At all.  And that was the final nail in the coffin.

I can't even express how disappointed I am with this movie.  I really hope they don't do this to Voyage of the Dawn Treader (supposed to come out in '09).

My advice:  Save your money, and wait until it comes out on DVD to see it.

I had to read your review at the risk of spoilers.  That is so disappointing!!  Sad  I know they have to change the books a little when turning it into a movie, but still - to be that far off, is obnoxious.  Thanks for the warning!

There was a good 40 minutes of the movie that they made up out of nowhere, and for apparently no reason whatsoever.

*SPOILER*

Highlight to read...
They even briefly brought back the White Witch briefly for some reason.

*SPOILER*

Seriously, save your 10 dollars. I'm not a person that's usually a prude about being faithful to the book/comic, etc. but dear lord... the changes they made made the story completely nonsensical, created gaping plot holes, and overall left the movie feeling like a shallow rip-off of a second rate fantasy movie.

Epic Movie had more depth than Prince Caspian did.

Romance between Caspian and Susan?Huh?? Wow, they must be really stretching here.  I guess all fantasy movies now must have massive battle scenes to be good....or to make 56 million in their opening weekend.   :Smiley

Yeah, and even that is kind of an understatement.  The only people who like it are the ones who haven't read the books.

That's so strange that the studio would sort of be depending on the fact that most people don't read books. How sad.

Ironically, I haven't read the books (yet), but I felt I was missing something throughout the whole thing. I felt there were holes in the story that kept me from understanding the point of it. With the first movie, I could understand it from beginning to end. The storyline seemed more solid.

Ironically still, I read a review yesterday that said it was volumes better than the first movie. I didn't agree with it at all.

There were holes in the story because it simply wasn't the story... ugh.  I know what you mean... if I hadn't read the book half of it would have flown over my head.

And really, the only reason this movie is getting such great reviews is because A. the people who write the reviews haven't read the book and B. there is more pointless action and drama in this movie than the last, and that is what mindless moviegoers want.

(Roy says, "Don't forget the eye candy," i.e. special effects... and Ben Barnes.)

The eye candy doesn't do it for me.

I thought the special effects were cheesy.

I have no idea who Ben Barnes is.
