Yeah, it's a hard business, even in the Christian music world, or maybe especially in the Christian music world.
It's obvious that secular music is all about image, and less about talent, or even music that makes sense (i.e., a bunch of words or phrases being thrown together instead of a song that actually has a theme, story, or actualy purpose).
The Christian music world deals with the same issue. To be honest, I don't listen to much radio, Christian or secular. Everything sounds the same- even the words sound the same, just mixed in a different way. On top of that, they want to send a positive message that will draw people to listen. Image and the "mainstream" sound plays a major role
Unfortunately, what I would consider true artists, or at least what I'm most inspired by, gets passed over a lot because it doesn't fit the mold. And, even more unfortunate, less new music is being played. The Christian stations play songs I sang in church 5 and 10 years ago. And it's so hard to find new stuff now. It's kind of like we're at a standstill.
Okay, got a little off the subject, but oh well. I'm stepping off my soap box now. Sorry.
